Tests Offered During Orientation

CLEP Examinations ($93 to CLEP paid online prior to test date, $25 to ACU)*:
Students desiring to test out of college courses are given the opportunity to take CLEP examinations. Usually you should only attempt credit by examination for courses in which you earned a grade of “A” while in high school. Scores are available shortly after the test is finished. The list of CLEP tests ACU accepts is on the Testing at Orientation Form.

Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling:
This is an objective examination required of certain students who have selected majors within the journalism and mass communication (JMC) department. Students scoring below 70 must take JMC 101 (Grammar for Journalists) or do significant remedial work before retaking the test. Students who score 24 or higher on the ACT English subtest or 590 or higher on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing are exempt. This test will be offered during Wildcat Week. Please call the JMC department at 325-674-2296 for information or to schedule a test time.
