Abilene Christian University (ACU) is proud to announce Dr. Drew Jamieson, College Associate Professor in the online Master of Marriage and Family Therapy (MMFT) program, as the recipient of the inaugural ACU Online Teacher of the Year award. This honor highlights Dr. Jamieson’s exceptional dedication to teaching, his ability to engage and support students and his alignment with ACU’s mission of fostering transformative education.
The ACU Online Teacher of the Year award was introduced to recognize outstanding faculty members serving ACU’s online student population. Students provided overwhelming support for Dr. Jamieson’s nomination, highlighting his compassion, expertise and commitment to their success. One student shared, “Dr. Jamieson has been more than an outstanding professor; he has been an inspiration. He has a way of providing guidance that makes me not only want to be a more knowledgeable counselor but to be a better person as well.”
Another student reflected on his positive impact: “Dr. Jamieson is so kind and encouraging and makes you feel like you can do this. His personal interest and care is above and beyond always. He has been a light to me during this experience.”
Dr. George Saltsman (’90), provost of the ACU Dallas campus, praised Dr. Jamieson’s contributions, stating, “Dr. Jamieson exemplifies what it means to be a transformational educator. His ability to connect with students in meaningful and impactful ways reflects the heart of ACU’s mission. We are incredibly proud to honor him as the first ACU Online Teacher of the Year.”
Dr. Drew Jamieson has been with ACU Online since 2017. A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Alabama and North Carolina, he has extensive clinical experience in oncology, addiction treatment and private practice. He holds an MDiv, ThM and PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy and serves as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Dr. Jamieson resides in Florence, Alabama, with his wife Lisa and son Riley. They have 4 other grown children, Kalie, Jake, Karlee and Kate.
Additionally, three adjunct instructors have been named Adjunct Teacher of the Year for their respective colleges:
- College of Health and Human Services – Lauren Allison, MS, instructor in the Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders program
- College of Leadership and Professional Studies – Dr. Frank Rojas, instructor in the Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership program
- College of Learning and Development – Dr. Kimberly Knutsen, instructor in English at the undergraduate level
