Abilene Christian University’s Faulkner Center for Marriage and Family will welcome author and columnist Tish Harrison Warren to speak at a dinner Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in ACU’s Hunter Welcome Center. Tickets are $30, and the event is open to the public. 

Warren is the author of Liturgy of the Ordinary: Sacred Practices in Everyday Life and Prayer in the Night: For Those Who Work or Watch or Weep. She has also written a weekly newsletter for The New York Times and has been a columnist for Christianity Today. Her articles and essays have also appeared in Religion News Service, Comment Magazine and The Point Magazine.

“We are excited to have Tish speak on the topic of marriage as formation,” said Dr. Heidi Morris, associate professor of marriage and family studies and director of the Faulkner Center. “She is well recognized for her work on spiritual formation, and her focus at this event will center on how the sacred bond of marriage can provide opportunities to shape and mold husbands and wives.”

The Faulkner Center for Marriage and Family hosts speakers and events and provides resources for the ACU community and local Abilene area. The center is partially funded by the Paul and Gladys Faulkner Center Endowment. Both the endowment and the center honor Dr. Paul and Gladys Faulkner. Paul, a long time preacher, counselor, professor, author and entrepreneur, founded the Marriage and Family Institute at ACU in 1979.  He is perhaps best known for the Marriage Enrichment Seminar he began with his college roommate and friend, the late Dr. Carl Brecheen, also a longtime faculty member at ACU. The two conducted marriage enrichment seminars in 33 states and seven countries over 32 years. Paul died in 2022, at age 92, and his wife, Gladys, died in 2016.
