Abilene Christian University welcomes more than 6,000 students this fall, marking the university’s sixth consecutive year of record enrollment. The enrollment of 6,219 reflects an increase of 4.6% over last year and more than 19% over the past five years.

This fall’s record enrollment includes 1,021 new freshmen who come from every region of Texas, the continental United States and across the world with 25 valedictorians/salutatorians, five National Merit Finalists and 39 international students.

Among the top programs of interest for incoming students are business, nursing, kinesiology,  psychology, engineering, communication sciences and disorders, occupational therapy, and marriage and family therapy.

“This year’s enrollment record combined with the quality of our student body helps fuel ACU’s rise as a national research university,” said Dr. Phil Schubert, ACU president. “Students and families from across the country and around the world are attracted to ACU’s world-class academic programs and our Christ-centered community. Such growth is exciting and positions ACU for unprecedented accomplishments moving forward.”

Providing a vibrant student experience is one of the pillars of ACU’s strategic plan, and the university is known for involving undergraduate students in real-world research, consistently producing Fulbright scholars, and offering highly-regarded study abroad experiences, first-year programs and service learning. In the last two years, the university has opened two new residence halls as part of the Freshman Village on campus, as well as an advanced science and engineering research facility that will house groundbreaking nuclear energy research. With more than $50 million in transformational academic gifts in the past year, the first named college in its history, and Division 1 athletics teams regularly competing for championships in the Western Athletic Conference, ACU’s continued rise as a national research university has set it on a course for continued growth in the higher education marketplace.
