Social Work Careers
Social work is a growing profession that offers a broad range of employment opportunities and settings. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Employment of social workers is expected to grow by 7% from 2023 to 2033, faster than the average for all occupations.”
Social Work Licensing
To become a professional social worker in most states social work licensure is required. To receive licensure, an individual must hold a social work degree from an accredited program. Both the BSSW and MSSW programs at ACU are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). This accreditation enables students to test for licensure upon graduation. View licensing information for your state here.
Federal Work-Study Program
We’re excited to announce the School of Social Work’s new partnership with Federal Work-Study, offering students the chance to gain hands-on experience in their practicum while earning money to support their education. Eligible students can work part-time on or off campus at local non-profits, applying their skills in real-world social work settings—all while staying focused on their studies. To qualify, students must demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA, be enrolled at ACU at least half-time, and meet satisfactory academic progress. Our practicum team is here to answer any questions and support you every step of the way!
