The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication awards merit scholarships to select incoming freshmen who declare a major in journalism, multimedia and Ad/PR. To apply, students must be admitted to ACU and submit a formal application.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 1
To qualify for this award, applicants must:
- Apply for and be granted admission to Abilene Christian University (ACU)
- Declare a major in Journalism, Advertising/Public Relations or Multimedia.
- Enroll in and successfully complete a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester
- Be pursuing their first undergraduate degree
- Students interested in Multimedia/ film and sports media may also submit a reel showcasing their work.

- Give an example of a time when you exhibited leadership in your school, church, or community.
