FBI director Christopher Wray has named an ACU adjunct criminal justice professor as an FBI assistant director.
Stuart Platt is the new FBI assistant director overseeing the Office of Professional Responsibility, located at the FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Platt was sworn in Aug. 27.
The Office of Professional Responsibility strives to ensure that FBI employees conduct themselves with the highest level of integrity and professionalism, and follow the guidelines, rules and laws regarding the FBI. The office is responsible for findings and disciplinary adjudications of misconduct allegations originating within the 37,000 employees of the FBI.
Platt was a full-time assistant professor of criminal justice for four years in the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice at Abilene Christian University. In 2017, he was hired by the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., to work in its Office of Professional Responsibility. He continued as an adjunct for ACU.
Platt most recently taught National Government during Summer II for ACU.

Prior to joining the faculty at ACU, Platt had 32 years of professional experience in law, criminal justice and government, including at the Texas Department of Public Safety as Inspector General and as General Counsel, as U.S. Magistrate Judge, and Assistant U.S. Attorney. In 2012, Platt retired as a colonel from the U.S. Army Reserve.
