Additionally, you can elect to receive 3 hours of college credit for each course by submitting a portfolio of your learning and a $300 assessment fee. RangersU Course Eligibility Requirement

Eligibility Requirements for Non-Academic Credit

RangersU courses are designed for professional development and personal enrichment.

RangersU courses are open to anyone 18 years old or older for the low cost of $95 per course.

RangersU courses do not require a college application, nor do you need any prerequisites to participate. To be successful in our courses, we recommend English language fluency and computer literacy.

Eligibility Requirements for Academic Credit

RangersU participants may obtain 3 hours of course credit for successfully completing a RangersU course. Course credits are available as an add-on for an additional cost of $100 per credit hour for a total of $395 for the course and three credit hours.

Credits for completing RangersU courses are provided on a credit-by-exam basis, similar to College Board Advanced Placement (AP) and College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams. As a pass/fail course, you will be issued a transcript acknowledging that you successfully passed the course but will not receive a letter grade. Course credits will be applied to your ACU transcript, which can then be forwarded to the institution of your choice at any time in the future. 

Who can apply for academic credit?

  • Anyone 18 years old or older who meets undergraduate admission criteria is eligible to apply. Course credit is available to anyone who has successfully completed high school in the United States or its territories. 

How to apply for academic credit

  • Course credit is available to anyone age 18 years or older who has successfully completed high school in the United States or its territories. A minimum of 2.5 high school GPA is required. 
  • During the college credit application process, you must submit a copy of your official high school transcript or a transcript from any post-secondary institution (college or university) where you have previously attended or are currently enrolled.
  • Students who graduated from a high school (or equivalent) outside the United States may also be eligible for credit. To obtain credit, you will be required to submit official documentation showing an education equivalent to a HS diploma and documentation of your English proficiency before the deadline to obtain credit (no later than 30-days after the end of the course). See the International Undergraduate Admission Process for more information.

Who do I contact if I have questions?

Expectations for credit by exam

  • Specific instructions for the exam will vary course by course but will be similar to an open-book exam where you will provide a written response. You will receive the exam instructions, grading rubric, and submission instructions once you have been enrolled in the course.
  • You have 30 days from completing your RangersU course to submit your exam and claim course credits. Your course credit will be applied to your ACU transcript within 45 days of submitting your work. Once issued, your course credits will never expire, and you can obtain a copy of your ACU transcript by following the transcript request instructions
  • Once your exam has been graded, you will receive an automated pass or fail response. No refunds will be granted.

ACU faculty and subject matter experts from the Texas Rangers created and lead our RangersU courses. 

When you enroll in a RangersU course, you take the same course as MLB players. Each course is designed as a seven-week experience with week-long modules (plus an introductory module). A new module will open each week with access to course materials, readings, videos, discussions, and assignments. 

As a non-credit participant, you are welcome to participate as much or as little as you wish. We hope you will take full advantage of the opportunity and fully participate, but how far you wish to take your learning is up to you. Similarly, as non-credit participants, we won’t grade your work or provide feedback. We think the most valuable learning will occur in how you engage with the course materials, readings, videos and discussions with other RangersU participants. 

Yes, you can take the Baseball History and Culture and Leadership Development courses simultaneously. Both courses run from January 9, 2024 to February 26, 2024.

It’s simple. Explore our RangersU courses here. After finding what interests you, follow the prompts to register. 

The RangersU courses are conducted over seven weeks, with new content released weekly. You’ll want to keep a consistent pace to keep up with the community discussions and ongoing course activities. Additionally, you’ll have access to the course materials for 30 days after the course end date.

No, ACU does not offer refunds for the RangersU courses. Additionally, your course purchase is non-transferable. 

You may, however, join in anytime as long as the course is active (from the start date to the course’s end). Students who log in at least once before the course ends will retain access 30 days after the course concludes. 

No, RangersU courses are not eligible for federal financial aid.

Have questions about technology needs for RangersU?

This is a list of basic computer system requirements for the Canvas Learning Management System, ACU’s RangersU course hosting platforms. It’s always recommended to use the most up-to-date versions of operating systems and have a reliable internet connection. Canvas will still run with the minimum specifications, but you may experience slower loading times. Canvas and its hosting infrastructure are designed for maximum compatibility and minimal requirements.

It depends. Most colleges and universities do allow for credit by exam transfer credits from another institution; however, some do not. You should check with your specific institution to determine eligibility and the amount of transfer credit allowed. While your credits never expire, your institution may have time limits that limit transfer credits after a certain amount of time.
