Application Checklist for International Undergraduate Students


Application

Complete the application for admission and pay the $50 application fee. Please ensure that you have answered all questions and that your contact information is correct. Your name should match the name on your passport (and, if possible, your transcript).

English Language Proficiency

You can demonstrate English language proficiency through one of the following methods:

  • An official test score sent to ACU by the testing entity (ACU test code: 6001). ACU accepts the following English language proficiency tests:
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) – 80 minimum overall score, 19 or above in reading and writing
    • International English Language System (IELTS) – 6.5 minimum overall score; 6.0 or above in reading and writing
    • Duolingo – 110 minimum score
  • Proof of citizenship of an English-proficiency exempt country
    Proof of completion of two consecutive years at a U.S. high school
  • 24 or more transfer credit hours from an accredited U.S. university

Requirement of additional proficiency exams is at the discretion of the university.

Financial Sufficiency

Please review the required financial documents international students must submit to the Office of International Students and Visiting Scholars. Your submitted records should demonstrate sufficient funds for the estimated cost of one year of study at ACU.

Academic Transcripts and Records

  • Official high school/secondary school transcripts, a secondary school diploma or leaving certificate and examination results are required from all international first-year and transfer students.
    • Unofficial transcripts are accepted in order to complete your admission file. However, final enrollment is contingent upon receipt of official transcripts.
  • All documents should be submitted in the original language. All documents in languages other than English must be accompanied by an official, literal, English translation.
  • Send all official high school and college transcripts to the Office of Admissions, ACU Box 29000, Abilene, TX, USA, 79699-9000 or email them to international@acu.edu.

Passport

Please send a copy of your passport with your application materials; the information on your passport will be used to prepare your I-20 immigration document. You will use your I-20 along with your certificate of admission to apply for a student visa from your country’s US consulate or embassy.

Employment

As an international student, you may apply for on-campus employment for up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters and full-time during school breaks.

Scholarships for International Students

ACU’s scholarships are designated by program and awarded based on demonstrated experience and expertise. Further outside scholarships may be available through professional organizations and accrediting bodies.
