ACU Community,
Thank you for your cooperation and teamwork the past two weeks as we implemented a temporary classroom face mask requirement to help support our community and our ACU population. We’ve seen a 75% reduction in our on-campus COVID-19 numbers during that time. Currently, our active COVID-19 cases represent less than 0.5% of our ACU community.
As a result, the mandate for masks in classrooms and other instructional spaces will end after 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, and no other restrictions will be implemented in the interim. Although the mandate for masking in all classroom and instructional spaces will be lifted, faculty members who were previously approved to require face masks in their classroom may still do so.
While we are encouraged by our current on-campus numbers, and what we hope is the beginning of positive trends in our state and county, we recognize that our local health care system is still at an emergency level, and we will continue to do our part. We’ll be proactive in monitoring our case count and the community health data, and make policy adjustments as appropriate.
Many of us have taken advantage of the opportunities for vaccination, and we’ll continue providing them through our Medical Clinic. We strongly believe vaccination is the best path forward for the health of our community and the student experience at ACU.
Thank you for your flexibility, patience and care for each other as we navigate this ever-changing environment.
Gratefully,
Phil Schubert, Ed.D.
President
