Dear ACU Community,
I am happy to share good news about our plans for the summer and fall semesters. We plan to have fully in-person learning and living experiences for both sessions.
Over this last year, ACU has demonstrated its ability to keep our campus safe even in the midst of a global pandemic. The protocols put in place last fall and this spring have been successful, and have provided us with a solid foundation for summer and fall operations.
This summer, we will keep existing masking and distancing protocols in place. Masks will still be required indoors and encouraged outdoors when social distancing is not possible. We believe this is in the best interest of our campus community until more people can become vaccinated. Our top priority is always to provide a safe campus environment for our students, faculty and staff. We will continue to monitor the COVID landscape throughout the summer and into the next academic year, and apply health and safety restrictions if needed.
We look forward to a more traditional environment this fall, without face coverings and with classrooms and residence halls at normal capacity. We are also eager to revive our large chapel gatherings, welcome fans to athletic events and offer a full slate of student programs and activities. The pandemic has certainly reminded us how much we value being in one another’s presence, and it has bonded our community in beautiful, unexpected ways.
As university life begins to return to normal, I want to thank all of our faculty and staff who found new ways to serve our students. Your flexibility, innovative approaches and amazing resilience are what made this year successful. ACU thrived as you found creative and collaborative ways to ensure our students excelled.
And, congratulations to our students for your resilience in weathering this unusual year and forging ahead so you wouldn’t miss a beat on your way to graduation. Despite the unforeseen challenges, we felt your energy, and saw your resolve, as you made the most of this unpredictable year. We are so proud of you!
Some of you have experienced loss during this time, and we grieve deeply with you. The love of those we have lost will remain with us forever. May their memory inspire each of us to achieve even more as we fulfill God’s purpose for our lives.
As we begin to reset our lives and find a new normal, it is comforting to know that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. May he continue to bless each of you…and ACU.
