Abilene Christian University is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for and earned special distinction as an Honor Roll institution in the latest survey by the Great Colleges to Work For program. This marks the 17th time ACU has been recognized by this survey and the sixth year for ACU to receive the Honor Roll designation.
The 2026 Great Colleges to Work For results, released Sept. 18 in a special insert of the The Chronicle of Higher Education, are based on a survey of 171 colleges and universities. Only 76 institutions were recognized as a Great College to Work For.
ACU was also named to the Great Colleges Honor Roll, a status granted to only 42 colleges each year – those who are highlighted most across the recognition categories.
The university was honored in seven categories this year:
- Job Satisfaction and Support
- Compensation and Benefits
- Professional Development
- Mission and Pride
- Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness
- Confidence in Senior Leadership
- Faculty and Staff Well-being
“At any educational institution, but especially at a faith-based university like ACU, faculty and staff are at the heart of our mission,” said Dr. Phil Schubert, ACU president. “The administration and board of trustees are committed to honoring and supporting employees because they define the student experience in their daily work and their interactions. We couldn’t be more thankful for the community we have at ACU.”
