MASTER OF ATHLETIC TRAINING (MAT)

In line with CAATE standards, the MAT degree program trains all students to pursue a career in this or a related field first by introducing all knowledge and skills needed to pass Texas and national certification exams. 

  • Two-years (full-time; 55 hours)
  • Two-part program structure
    • Clinical experience (6 semesters)
    • Immersion experience (4-6 weeks)
  • NCAA Division I Athletics
  • One-to-one faculty-student mentorship
M.S. in STRENGTH, CONDITIONING, & HUMAN PERFORMANCE (MSSCHP)

The MSSCHP degree provides students with eligibility to sit for NSCA and CSCCa exams.

  • Summer coursework opportunities

Dynamic Careers in Athletic Training

Athletic trainers collaborate with or practice under the guidance of a physician to improve a patient’s activity or aid in their recovery. More and more, athletic trainers occupy an integral role in today’s health care system, overseeing injury prevention, rehabilitation, diagnosis, wellness and intervention involving emergency, acute and chronic conditions.

  • industrial and occupational health care clinics;
  • military bases;
  • government and first-responder organizations;

Dynamic Careers in Strength & Conditioning

ACU’s newest edition to the health sciences field, the Master of Science in Strength, Conditioning, and Human Performance (MSSCHP), further emphasizes the profession of coaching as a service to others. This program prepares strength and conditioning coaches for stewarding others in their desires to lead a healthier lifestyle and conquer fitness milestones.

ACU is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) located at 6850 Austin Center Blvd., Suite 100, Austin, TX 78731-3184. The program will have its next comprehensive review during the 2024-2025 academic year.
