Is college for me?
Probably so! Many careers require a bachelor’s degree, and people with college degrees earn more on average than people without one. At ACU, you can choose from more than 180 different academic paths, so you can find a good fit for your interests and goals. Your admissions counselor can talk through your goals with you to be sure you’re on the right path.
Is college expensive?
A college degree is a major investment in your future. ACU gives you the information and tools you need to financially plan for your education. We award over $33 million in scholarships each year, and 100% of admitted students receive financial aid. Completing the FAFSA is the best way to maximize your financial aid eligibility. How do I pick a career I will like?
Choosing a career involves thinking about your interests, skills and personality. Before you even arrive at ACU, you can attend a Discover Your Strengths session to uncover your unique talents and how those connect to various majors. Once you’re admitted, your academic advisor can talk with you about various career paths. After you start at ACU, you’ll have access to our Career Development Center and opportunities like internships and job shadowing that will help you find your path.
Where is Abilene, and what is it like?
Abilene is a city of 130,000 people located in West Texas, about 150 miles west of Ft. Worth. It’s within a few hours’ drive of Dallas, Austin and San Antonio and has a convenient airport for longer trips. Abilene offers the perfect combination of small-town community and big-city amenities. Our downtown features local boutiques, restaurants, coffee shops and museums. Weekends are full of cultural events, parades, rodeos and concerts. Does ACU have Division I sports?
Yes, ACU has 17 Division I athletic teams, including football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, softball, track and field and golf. We’ve been to the March Madness tournament three times, and Wildcat alumni include 43 NFL players and 40 Olympians. Tailgating and cheering on our athletics teams is a big part of the ACU experience.
Do I need to take the ACT or SAT before applying?
ACU’s application process is test-optional, so you’re not required to have an ACT, SAT or CLT score to apply. Students who apply test-optional will still be considered for merit-based scholarships, but they may not be eligible for our highest academic awards or for the Honors College.
When should I apply?
Our application opens each year on August 1 for current high school seniors. We encourage you to apply early to maximize scholarship opportunities and allow plenty of time to plan for your first year.
