Financial Documents
International students applying for immigration documents must submit financial documents that meet the required financial document policy.
Federal regulations require international students to have sufficient funding for their educational costs in the U.S. Students must submit documents showing evidence of funds for at least one academic year, along with evidence of the ability to fund additional years of study. The official cost of attendance estimate for ACU international students includes:
- tuition and fees,
- room and board,
- books and health insurance
Current ACU estimates are available for international undergraduate students and international graduate students. Please note that these estimates do not include transportation, travel, personal items, clothing, entertainment or emergency funds, which you should include in your personal budget.
Scholarships or graduate assistantships awarded by ACU may count toward the total amount of support needed. If you receive scholarships from ACU departments or sources outside ACU, please submit these documents along with your personal and sponsor’s financial documents.
Please submit the following required documents to demonstrate your financial sufficiency:
- International Student Financial Agreement
- International Parent or Sponsor Agreement of Support from each of your sponsors.
a. If your sponsors are not immediate family members (father, mother, brother or sister), submit a personal bank statement showing at least $4,000 USD to cover some of your initial expenses. - Official bank documents with a balance sufficient to support at least your first academic year of studies, such as:
a. A letter from your sponsor’s bank or financial institution (highly recommended.) This is a letter on institutional letterhead, with a certification statement in English confirming the balance of the owner(preferably in U.S. dollars). The letter should include the name, signature, title, date and contact information of the bank or financial institution and an official seal or stamp. This should normally be accompanied by one or more of the items below.
b. Recent official bank statements with at least three months’ history.
c. Recent business account statements, accompanied by documents proving sole proprietorship by the sponsor or an official letter signed by all owners approving the sponsorship.
d. Official loans from a bank may also be submitted as proof of support. Students are encouraged to pursue this option prior to your arrival if your family’s resources will be insufficient.*Please note that church sponsorship is not acceptable as proof of support.
The total amount of available financial support from all sponsors as evidenced from the bank letters, scholarship documents and bank statements must be equal to or greater than your annual family financial responsibility as outlined in your award letter.
