Sharp-shooting guard John Ray Godfrey (’68), one of the greatest all-around men’s basketball players in Abilene Christian University history, died Nov. 17, 2024, at age 80. Dr. Joyce Mae Curtis, 87, pioneering women’s intercollegiate athletics coach at Abilene Christian University, died Sept. 1, 2024, in Abilene, Texas. Visitation will be 4:30-5:30 p.m. Sept. 5 in the chapel at Hillcrest Church of Christ, immediately followed by a memorial service.
