ACU FilmFest gave Brooke Musia the opportunity to learn by doing, and this year alone, she worked on six different FilmFest productions. 🎬 The senior multimedia major says the hands-on experience she’s gained through student film sets has helped her grow as a director, collaborator and storyteller throughout her time at ACU.That experience recently led to Brooke and co-director Lauren Burris earning Best Director at ACU FilmFest for After Emmy. Brooke credits ACU’s supportive environment and real-world filmmaking opportunities for helping shape her journey as a student filmmaker and encouraging her to continue telling stories."I've come to understand that, with film, the majority of learning happens when you're making films," Brooke says. What a privilege it was to hear from historian and Harvard professor Dr. Annette Gordon-Reed earlier this month. She led our community in the practice of collective remembrance of our nation’s tragedies and triumphs on the eve of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This event was part of the Don Williams & Royce Money Distinguished Lecture series. In his opening remarks, Dr. Money encouraged the audience to reflect on the past in order to "see more clearly and more bravely."We are thankful for the work that the Carl Spain Center is doing to promote meaningful dialogue through events like these.
