All Chemistry and Biochemistry Degree Programs

We offer three majors and a minor. Each program prepares you to lead in important fields such as forensic science, polymers, environmental monitoring and remediation, medicine, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, the petroleum industry and health sciences. Chemistry and biochemistry are the cornerstones of important fields such as biotechnology, polymers, forensic science, environmental monitoring and remediation, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, the petroleum industry and health sciences. The ACU Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry trains students to be exceptional Christian servants and leaders in these chemical and biochemical careers.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry has the finest facilities, including 12 undergraduate teaching and research laboratories, and an outstanding faculty. The undergraduate program has been approved by the American Chemical Society (ACS) since 1971.

A major in chemistry or biochemistry prepares you for a wide variety of work opportunities. Advancing the frontiers of chemical and biochemical knowledge through research can be accomplished in an academic or industrial setting. Alumni teach chemistry and other sciences at any level from grade school through university. ACU chemists and biochemists work in areas of biotechnology, polymers, forensics, environmental monitoring and remediation, and also in the petroleum, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries. Alumni with degrees in chemistry and biochemistry serve as doctors, pharmacists, dentists and many other health professions. More than 400 scientists and professionals have earned their Ph.D., M.D., or other doctoral degrees after majoring in chemistry or biochemistry at ACU.
