About the Medical Clinic

Welcome to the ACU Medical Clinic, your on-campus health care provider. It is our goal to help ACU students, faculty, staff and dependents live healthy lives by providing excellent health care and education.

Appointments

Schedule an appointment in person or by phone at 325-674-2625. If the patient has a myACU account, they may schedule online by going to the Medical Clinic Patient Portal and clicking on the “Appointments” tab. Patients can usually see a nurse practitioner within 24 hours. Office visit fees are $10 for students and $40 for employees, spouses and dependents. Labs, tests, injections and medications are an additional fee.

No-Show Policy

In order to ensure that all patients are able to receive medical care in a timely fashion, we must enforce a $10 no-show fee for students and a $40 no-show fee for faculty, staff, spouses and dependents. That fee will be charged to the patient’s Banner account if they fail to keep their appointment or cancel less than 2 hours before their scheduled appointment time. A patient may cancel their appointment on the Medical Clinic Patient Portal or by calling our office at 325-674-2625.

Patient Portal

Patients with an active myACU account may schedule appointments, access their immunization record and statements, enter their required immunization information, read information about their diagnosed condition(s) and more within the Medical Center Patient Portal.

Hours of Operation

Monday – Thursday:  8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Medical Services

All current ACU students, faculty, staff and their dependents are eligible to receive services at the Medical Clinic. Our providers treat the full range of primary health care needs. We provide primary care for acute illnesses, infections, allergies, asthma, wounds, sprains, sports medicine, travel medicine, mental health, and men’s and women’s health, as well as other services normally associated with a medical office.

TimelyCare – FREE Online Healthcare Available 24/7/365

All ACU students have access to free online medical and mental health care available 24/7/365 from anywhere in the United States by downloading the TimelyCare app on your smartphone. Students must use their ACU email address to set up their account. Most online visits take less than 20 minutes, and patients will receive a diagnosis and treatment plan from a medical doctor, nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant. When indicated, prescriptions can be instantly e-prescribed to the patient’s local pharmacy. TimelyCare also offers free online counseling from licensed therapists and so much more.

Measles

Symptoms of measles include:

  • High fever
  • Cough, runny nose and conjunctivitis
  • Koplik spots (small white spots inside the mouth)
  • Rash: Typically begins on the face and spreads downward to the rest of the body

If you suspect you may have measles, please call the clinic at 325-674-2625 and we will conduct a telehealth visit and order testing as deemed necessary.

COVID-19

If you are experiencing COVID-19, flu or upper respiratory symptoms, please make an appointment by calling the front office at 325-674-2625 or by using the Patient Portal. We are currently offering the COVID antigen test for $10 and a combo (influenza/COVID) test for $50. We also offer COVID-19 travel testing. We are following the CDC guidance on respiratory illnesses.

Allergy Injections

We are happy to coordinate with your doctor at home to provide allergy injections or necessary lab work and can make referrals for specialist care.

Mental Health Services / Psychiatric Services

Our on-staff psychiatrist treats and manages medications for ADHD, bipolar disorder, major depression, anxiety and other psychiatric conditions that are treated on an outpatient basis. Fees range from $40 to $150 for an office visit. Patients should call 325-674-2625 and are usually able to secure an appointment within two weeks.

If you are currently receiving treatment from a physician back home, your care may be continued here while you are an ACU student. In order for our psychiatrist to ensure continuity of care, it will be important for you to complete an Authorization to Release Information form when you first arrive on campus. As with all services at the MACCC, treatment is completely confidential.

Psychiatric Fees

Initial evaluation: $150.00
Transfer of care: $85.00
Follow-up: $50.00
Medication Check: $40.00
Appointment No Show: $40.00

Summer Hours

Policies & Procedures

Fees & Insurance

The flat fee for medical office visits is $10 for all students and $40 for all other patients. There are additional costs associated with lab work, tests, medications, injections, medical supplies and rental equipment. These costs vary based on what treatment service is provided.

Referrals for lab work, X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, ER visits, etc., are billed separately by an outside health provider. We are able to send the patient’s insurance information along with the referral at the request of the patient.

Insurance

The medical clinic does not bill insurance but can provide patients with a receipt for filing purposes. Payment for services is expected at the time of the visit via cash, check or credit card or by charging to the patient’s ACU account. You may wish to provide your insurance information for out-of-clinic services such as lab tests, diagnostic tests, ER visits and physician referrals.

Request for Medical Records

Because an actual signature is required to release medical records and information, staff at the ACU Medical Clinic are not allowed to process requests or authorizations received via email. Requests must be made by the student.

Please download the Authorization to Release Information form, complete all required fields, sign it and mail or fax the form to the clinic. Each request will be handled within 10 business days.

Fees

A fee may be charged for copying, mailing, shipping or otherwise delivering health care information.

Exceptions

Local, state or federal agencies requesting health care information may be entitled by statute to a different fee. The agency should inform the clinic of this fact at the time of the request.

Confidentiality

All medical records are kept confidential. Any information released is done so only with the patient’s written authorization, except in cases where required by law.
