Friends of ACU Library Celebrates Annual Dinner with Author Daniel Nayeri and Honors Distinguished Recipients

The annual ACU Friends of the Library Dinner, held on February 24, 2025, brought together literature enthusiasts and university supporters for an evening of inspiration and recognition.

 

New York Times bestselling author Daniel Nayeri headlined the event, delivering a thought-provoking address that engaged attendees in a meaningful conversation about the concept of home. Nayeri’s insights resonated with the audience, prompting reflection on the personal and universal significance of home in our lives.

2025 ACU Library Friend of the Year

Dr. Carisse Berryhill

During the celebration, the ACU Library honored Dr. Carisse Berryhill, Special Assistant to the Dean for Strategic Initiatives, as the 2025 ACU Library Friend of the Year, acknowledging her significant contributions to the nation’s library community through her service to the American Theological Library Association and to her work as a faculty member at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.

Craig Churchill Service Award

DeDe James

In a special presentation, ACU Library Dean Dr. James Wiser invited Anita Churchill, wife of the late ACU librarian Craig Churchill, to present the inaugural Craig Churchill Service Award to DeDe James, Public Services Coordinator, recognizing DeDe’s exceptional dedication to the ACU community.

“This evening embodied everything we value about our library community—intellectual engagement, recognition of service, and the joy of coming together,” remarked Dr. Wiser. “We’re grateful to everyone who participated in making this evening so meaningful.”
