More than 700 Abilene Christian University fans of all ages cheered for new director of athletics Lee De Leon and stayed until the bottom of the 11th inning to celebrate a Texas Rangers win Thursday night at the fifth annual ACU at the Ballpark Night in Arlington.
De Leon threw the ceremonial first pitch at Globe Life Park and outfielder Shin-Soo Choo sent everyone but the Chicago White Sox home happy when he rapped a walk-off single to give Texas an exciting 2-1 victory.
Fans gathered before the game at the Rangers Hall of Fame room for a Wildcat Caravan event, meeting ACU head coaches Ken Collums, Britt Bonneau, Julie Goodenough, Jason Bibler and Tom Shaw, and assistant coach IJ Moronu (’12) while picking up a souvenir baseball and football schedule poster, and having their photo taken with Willie the Wildcat.
