Brittany Partridge is the first student in ACU history – and one of only a small number of those in the nation in 2012 – to earn a prestigious Truman Scholarship and a Marshall Scholarship for graduate school.
A political science major and December 2012 Abilene Christian graduate from Annandale, Minn., she is featured in “Threads of Hope,” a feature story in the new Fall 2012 issue of ACU Today magazine.
Partridge and roommate Samantha Sutherland (’12) started the nonprofit Red Thread Movement as freshmen in 2009, with proceeds dedicated to helping end human trafficking in Nepal. The organization sells red bracelets hand-woven by Nepalese girls and women rescued from lives of poverty and exploitation. The Red Thread Movement is financed by Linda Egle (’73) and her Abilene-based non-profit, Eternal Threads.
Partridge will soon begin work at a Christian youth hostel and intern with the International Forum of Solidarity in the Netherlands, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. After her internship, she will spend the summer in Washington, D.C., at the Truman Foundation’s Summer Institute. She will begin her graduate work in Great Britain in the fall.
