Abilene Christian University juniors Chloe Susset and Alyse Goldsmith received a cold shoulder from Mother Nature in Spokane, Wash., where the NCAA Division II cross country championships were held today. Running in the snow and temperatures in the 20s, Susset finished 59th in 22:55.0 and Goldsmith was 107th in 23:49.8 on the 6K course at the Plantes Ferry Athletic Complex along the Spokane River.
Susset and Goldsmith qualified for the national meet after finishing first and fourth, respectively, in the NCAA Division II South Central regional championship. At the Nov. 5 meet in Wichita Falls, Susset became ACU’s sixth individual regional champion in the last 10 years, running 21:37.90 and joining a group of former Wildcat regional winners including Yuliya Stashkiv (2003), Adeh Mwamba (2004), Trina Cox (2005), Winrose Karunde (2007 and 2008) and Anais Belledant (2010).
