The 105th annual version of Summit at Abilene Christian University includes thought-provoking presentations by more than 130 speakers, including minister and best-selling Christian author Max Lucado (’77), during four days of programming centered around messages from Old Testament-era prophet Isaiah.
Summit, known for years at ACU as the university’s Bible Lectureship, is “a conversation where life and faith converge in Christ,” as Summit director Dr. Brady Bryce likes to call it.
Featured guests at the Sept. 18-21 event in 2011 include Lucado, award-winning author Rachel Held Evans and Sharon Cohn Wu, senior vice president of structural transformation for International Justice Mission. Contemporary singer-songwriter Mindy Smith will perform a concert to close out Summit’s final night.
Theme speakers include Dr. Billy Curl (’66) of Los Angeles, Calif.; Barron Jones of San Antonio; Dr. Rick Marrs of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; Dusty Rush of Atlanta, Ga.; Dr. Mark Hamilton of ACU; Dr. Dan Rodriguez of Malibu, Calif.; and Dr. Harold Shank of Parkersburg, Va.
Other special presenters include Susan Campbell, Pulitzer Prize-winning Hartford Courant columnist, and Walt Mueller, founder and president of the Center for Parent/Youth Understanding.
