Boyd selected as governor’s general counsel

Austin attorney Jeff Boyd, a 1983 graduate of Abilene Christian University, has been appointed general counsel to Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
Boyd, who earned a bachelor’s in religion from ACU and a law degree from Pepperdine University, had been senior partner of Thompson & Knight LLP in Austin since 2003, and before that, Texas’ deputy attorney general for civil litigation.
He is a member of the Texas Supreme Court Rules Advisory Committee, and past president and board member of Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas.
Former classmates at ACU will remember him as president of his junior class. He has been serving his alma mater on the Alumni Advisory Board (AAB).
“Although my time and resources will be more limited, I will look forward to continuing to serve on the AAB, and continuing to support ACU and its students  and alums here locally,” Boyd wrote in an early January email to the university’s Advancement Office.
