ACU remembers: William B. “Bill” Decker

William B. “Bill” Decker, 84, associate professor emeritus of Bible at Abilene Christian University, died Nov. 13 at his home in Abilene.
He began teaching at ACU in 1955 as an instructor and barracks supervisor before beginning 10 years of service as a full-time assistant professor in the Bible department.
Decker served as director of public relations and development from 1968-72, worked in the estate planning office from 1973-79, then returned to the Bible department, where he taught Greek and New Testament studies until his retirement in 1990.
He was an exchange professor to Ibaraki Christian College in Japan from 1958-59, and a longtime elder at Abilene’s University Church of Christ.
