Safety Danieal Manning and wide receiver Johnny Knox helped their team defeat Dallas before a large crowd in the Cowboy’s new home in Arlington, Texas. Attendees included several representatives of ACU: Dr. Phil Schubert (’91), president; Phil Boone (’83), vice president for advancement; Jason Groves (’00), chief marketing officer; Jared Mosley (’91), director of athletics; Lance Fleming (’92), assistant director of athletics for media relations; Chris Thomsen (’00 M.Ed.), head football coach; and Grant Boone (’91), alumni relations officer.
A nice pre-game story in the Chicago Tribune covered the anticipation felt felt by Manning, Knox and teammate Brian Urlacher as they prepared to return to their native Texas to play their boyhood hero Cowboys. Knox led the Bears with 86 yards receiving, including a pretty 59-yard pass on third down from Jay Cutler. Manning had five tackles for the rugged Chicago defense, including four solos. Both players return kicks for the Bears, who are 2-0 on the season.
