ACU awards degrees, honors at Commencement

Abilene Christian University plans to present 550 undergraduate and 109 graduate degrees, including five doctoral degrees, to students during two ceremonies in Moody Coliseum, May 9.

Commencement for the College of Biblical Studies, College of Business Administration, College of Education and Human Services and the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing is scheduled for 11 a.m. The ceremony for the College of Arts and Sciences will be held at 3 p.m.

Dr. John T. Willis, Burton Coffman Chair of Biblical Studies and professor of Old Testament, will be giving the charge to students. Awards to be presented include Honor Man and Honor Woman awards, the Trustees Award, the B Sherrod Scholarship, the V.W. and Loreta Kelley Scholarships, the Dean Adams Achievement award and Outstanding Thesis, Outstanding Project and Outstanding Service graduate awards. The Alpha Chi Award for students with a grade point average of 4.0 or 3.99 will be awarded to 29 graduates.

Each Commencement will be followed by a casual reception for graduates and their families in the mall area of the ACU campus.
