ACU Wildcats unify to serve Abilene, April 18
Abilene Christian University students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends will soon gather to reach out to the Abilene community by participating in ACU for Abilene.
ACU for Abilene is a day devoted to having many different people help the community through a range of volunteer efforts. The day is filled with Wildcats around the community serving at different locations around Abilene, said Courtney Patterson, senior business administration major from Orlando and co-chair of ACU for Abilene
"Serving together brings people closer and unifies us," said Patterson. "The event gives everyone a chance to get to know one another better and fellowship while serving the Abilene community."
This year's theme, "Unity," is taken from Psalm 133:1 which reads, "How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity."
The day will include a breakfast and devotional before participants disperse to different locations in the community.
"This year, we're planning a cookout and a musical entertainment celebration in which anyone is invited to come to back after serving," Patterson said. "We are encouraging participants to invite the people they serve that morning to come, as well."
