Abilene Christian University's International Students Association will host the International Food Festival, March 28 in the McCaleb Conference Center in the Hunter Welcome Center. The purpose of the festival is to raise awareness about the diversity at ACU, and expose the community to world cuisine made by its international students.
"The International Food Festival is a good way to connect the community with the world through the international students here at ACU," said Mallorie Frank, ACU student productions media relations specialist. "It is a great time of celebration and fellowship."
Entertainment during the festival will include a fashion show showcasing the products of Eternal Threads, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and children most at risk of extreme poverty, trafficking and other forms of exploitation.
The decision to work with Eternal Threads was made because of what the organization stands for and does around the world, said Frank. The organization empowers and sustains women in many different countries like Madagascar, Nepal, India, Afghanistan, or Thailand.
Many students have helped in the planning and creation of the event including Esmeralda Silva, graduate accounting major from Mexico; Hannah Barnes, freshman speech pathology major from El Paso; Nadege Razakamiadana, sophomore marketing major from Madagascar; Mizuki Komuro, junior marketing major from Japan; and Aya Honda, sophomore interior design major from Japan, along with all of the ISA officers.
The event begins at 6 p.m., and admission is $5. Proceeds from the event will benefit Eternal Threads.
