ACU students give back during spring break

Spring break is usually a time for students to take it easy and unwind from their hectic school schedules. But for 300 students at Abilene Christian University, spring break means something completely different.
ACU students will spend their weeklong break serving various communities across the world, March 9-13. Students will go on 24 different campaigns to 14 states, the District of Columbia and four international locations.
"The majority of students will spend the week in a culture very different from their own, and through that they will gain a greater understanding of the call of Jesus," said Jen Rogers, director of student ministries and advisor for Spring Break campaigns. "Often they find the people they visit deeply impact their own lives and faith."
Students will serve these communities in numerous ways including ministering to the homeless, rebuilding churches and leading ministry programs.
Locations that students will be visiting include Anchorage, Alaska; Boulder, Colo.; Honduras, Nicaragua and many more.
Spring Break Campaigns give students a chance to serve others and spread the gospel, Rogers said.
Students have been participating in campaigns during spring break for more than 30 years. Max Lucado, an ACU graduate of 1977 and well-known Christian author, began the first Spring Break Campaigns while a student at ACU.
