ACU emphasizes spring break safety during "Making Choices Week"

making choices weekAbilene Christian University's Peer Health Education and Counseling Center is sponsoring its annual "Making Choices Week," March 2-5. This week is composed of unique campus activities designed to help students remember to have safe fun during spring break."Catch the Fire" is this year's theme.

"'Making Choices Week' seeks to encourage students to think about the decisions they make before making them, during spring break and all year round," said Naomi Mandel, ACU's peer health coordinator. "The theme 'Catch the Fire' is the idea that when we truly catch the consuming fire of God and have it growing inside of us, God will inform and adapt the decisions we make."

"Making Choices Week" is scheduled for the week before ACU students begin spring break. Each day will feature a different activity to encourage spring break safety.

The week's activities include:

Monday:

•    Chapel presentation by Naomi Mandel at 11 a.m. in Moody Coliseum.

•    Health Food Fair at 11:30 a.m. in the McGlothlin Campus Center. The first 90 people in attendance will receive a free backpack.

•    "Fire" Devotional at 9 p.m. in the Beauchamp Amphitheater.

Tuesday:

•    Obstacle course at 11:30 a.m. in front of the GATA Fountain. The obstacle course will be used to educate students about binge drinking and drunk driving.

Wednesday:

•    "Stress and Sleep Management Day" at 11:30 a.m. in the McGlothlin Campus Center. This event will aid students in managing stress and sleep.

Thursday:

•    Eating disorders Forum, entitled "Food, Fat and Fear," at 7 p.m. in Hart Auditorium
