ACU announces Entrepreneur-in-Residence
Jim PorterJames Porter has been named the first Entrepreneur-in-Residence by Abilene Christian University's College of Business Administration. Porter has served in technology industry, community and professional activities, participating in more than 30 mergers, and accounting for more than 25 CEOs in his employ over the last 20 years.

On Wednesday, March 26, there will be a reception honoring Porter's new appointment to the role of Entrepreneur-in-Residence. The reception will begin at 10 a.m. in the Mabee Business Building.

"Mr. Jim Porter was appointed to this position because he is a phenomenal individual who possesses the expertise, talent, wisdom and desire to help us launch an entrepreneurial focus in our curriculum," said Dr. Rick Lytle, dean of COBA.

As Entrepreneur-in-Residence, Porter will be teaching each Maymester, leading the SpringBoard Ideas Challenge, and helping COBA create a certificate program in Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy.

Porter was the CEO and President of Triad Systems, served in executive roles in two successful start-up businesses, was on the board and executive committee of the Information Technology Association of America and served for ten years on the AICPA Accounting Standards Executive Committee for the Software Industry.

Porter currently serves on two public company boards, two privately held company boards and two private university governing boards, including ACU's Board of Trustees. He has also served on the boards of two large medical centers and several foundations. He and his wife of 49 years, Lela, live in The Woodlands, Texas.
