Over the course of two lectures, Meeks will discuss the subject of Biblical interpretation in and for contemporary culture. The discussions will take place in Room 130 of the Onstead-Packer Biblical Studies Building at ACU.
The first of the lectures, entitled "Living by the Bible: the Bad, the Good, and the Question," deals with the question of whether the Church can encourage people to live by the Bible after considering the history of people who have claimed to do so. This session will begin at 4 p.m.
The second session, "To Tell the Truth: Moving Toward Greater Honesty," will address attempting to have greater honesty and faithfulness in interpreting and employing the Bible, as well as how to discover currently applicable truths in the text. Meeks will speak on this topic at 7:30 p.m.
The Carmichael-Walling Lectures are free and open to the public.
