The history of higher education is rich with examples of how significant gifts have strengthened the very existence of many universities. Financial support plays a critical role in the future of higher education, sometimes even affecting the direction of a university or determining its name.
Endowment funds, which retain a non-expendable principal, are invested to produce useable income. Abilene Christian University's endowment supports the mission of the university by providing a substantial, sustainable and predictable flow of funds to the operating budget. ACU's investment team does an excellent job of managing these funds, which had a 16.1% return on investment in the 2007 calendar year.
Abilene Christian University has been blessed with a deep and sustaining heritage in endowments. Once established, there is no minimum gift required to add to an endowment. The Endowment Honor Roll lists the names of endowed scholarships. As of Dec. 31, 2007, ACU's endowment was valued at $289 million. As additional gifts continue to grow the endowment, our financial foundation will be strengthened even more. View the Endowment Honor Roll.
Developed over time through the generous gifts of donors, the ACU endowment provides a reliable source of funds for current and future operations and scholarships. View the following links to find out more about endowments at Abilene Christian University:
