Meet a Student
Stacy
Major: Interdisciplinary Ministry and Psychology
Hometown: Vallejo, CA
Activities: Admissions Office intern, president of Student African-American Brotherhood, NAACP Student chapter,
preaching assistant at Eastside Church of Christ, Hamlin, TX
Stacy Jones has a reason for majoring in interdisciplinary ministry and psychology. "I'm going to be a minister. I believe people have problems that are wholly spiritual and others that are wholly psychological. I need to be able to know the difference between each so I can help people to be healthy in every possible way."
A native of Vallejo, CA, he hopes to eventually return to the West Coast. "I have a passion for helping families," Stacy says. "African-Americans tend to shy away from seeking counseling for problems. Who better to come back and try to change the face of counseling and help grow the faith community than someone from that community?"
He attended two state universities before finding a place where he finally felt valued and welcomed: ACU. "The faculty is excellent at integrating my academic discipline with faith," he says. "I want to be a Christian who happens to be a psychologist, not the other way around. My faith is what's most important."
