Real-World Experience

The Shore Art Gallery (on campus) and ACU-Cockerell Gallery (downtown Abilene) provide opportunity for viewing work by renowned national and regional artists and designers.
Students can Study Abroad in European art centers.
The department provides real-world experience through field trips to art and design production firms and student work with local art and advertising agencies.
ACU's facilities include high-tech computer labs as well as sculpture, ceramics and printmaking studios.

Exceptional Degrees

Students are prepared for careers as an artist, graphic designer, art teacher, art director, illustrator, gallery or museum coordinator, interior designer - or architect.

ACU grads are accepted at exceptional rates into their top choices of graduate schools.
The Interior Design degree is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA, formerly FIDER).
Graduates have become art directors, Web designers, project managers, graphic designers, multimedia designers, and more - working for prestigious companies such as Comedy Central, Landry's Seafood and Focus on the Family.

All full-time instructors hold the terminal degree in their area of specialty.
The department has low student:teacher ratios in studio classes.
Art department faculty members are not only committed teachers but passionate artists. Each year, they show their work in competitions and exhibitions in various regional and national arenas.
